How to Survive Your Child’s Changing Sleeping Pattern

Once you have a child, you are introduced to this whole new world where you are in a state of worry. There are various changes to adapt to key of them being sleeping patterns. The first stage in a child’s life is the infancy stage where you will be lucky if you get three hours of solid sleep. When they are toddlers, you are bound to get a little more than three hours unless they come to wake you up. The independent stage is where the pattern sets in and the glorious stage where you hope to get your sleeping pattern back and get it down to a science.

At infancy stage, the sleep pattern may be dependent on how you feed your baby. There are a few benefits associated with breastfeeding though it may be a personal decision. For instance, breastfeeding makes a mother loose her baby fat rapidly and burn a lot more calories. Important nutrient content is also passed on to babies when you breast fed. These nutrients have antibodies that helps to build the immunity of the child keeping diseases at bay. A child and the mother bond strongly during their breast feeding time.
Some mothers however do not have sufficient amounts of milk and they cannot breast feed. Others just opt to feed their baby using formula making the entire decision completely up to you. Whatever you decide you will find that there is a distinct sleeping pattern based on how you feed your baby.

It is highly unlikely that you will get three hours or more of solid sleep when you breast feed. You will get a solid sleep rhythm when you monitor your patterns.

Provided that the diaper is dry, you are likely to get a three hour grace period when your child sleeps. Such timings can influence how you plan around your time.

When your child is around two, they can walk about. The toddler stage is also marked with the transition from the crib to the bed. This stage has a mixture of emotions that a mother cannot express. Most parents usually sleep with their kids so that they fall asleep and then do the famous tip toe back to their bedroom.

If your kid is bold they may look for you in the middle of the night and if they are not they will call you from the baby monitors but at least you will get more than three hours of sleep.

Your sleeping pattern will resume when your kids are independent and going to kindergarten. This stage the kids are familiar with their sleeping pattern their bedroom and know when its time to sleep. You will be grateful that you persevered through the sleepless night since you can now reward yourself with a cup of coffee at the beginning of each day thanks to your normal sleeping pattern.
